Thematic Private Markets (Climate/Environment)

An asset owner sought to establish a pioneering role of a Portfolio Manager for thematic private markets, to spearhead their climate solutions investment initiative. The position would oversee a new multi-asset portfolio spanning private equity, private credit, infrastructure, real estate, and natural capital investments. The mandate required expertise in fund investments with the flexibility to expand into secondaries, co-investments, and direct investments as the portfolio matured.

We conducted a comprehensive European search, engaging 169 candidates across asset owners and private markets firms. Our approach focused on identifying professionals with both the technical expertise to navigate multiple asset classes and the strategic vision to build a portfolio in the thematic private markets. The search demanded careful assessment of candidates’ ability to blend traditional investment acumen with environmental impact objectives.
