Over the stay at home period, what ideas or reflection have emerged that have surprised you?

Before the pandemic occurred I would sometimes sit back and watch others striving the hustle and bustle of life, rushing around and missing out on the main purpose of life, which for me is to support others, spend time with those we love but fail to contact due to our busy schedules and always leave it to ‘another day’. The lockdown periods we have experienced should now enlighten the fact that nothing is more important than being there for our family and friends. We should always reach out to them and offer our genuine ‘listening ear’ and time. It has been so great to see humanity work together as one whole community to get through these challenging times.

What is the most powerful effect you can have on another person?

The most powerful effect you can have on another person is to motivate and encourage them to reach out to their dreams. Also, to let your closest and dearest know that you will always be there for them if they require support and then take action accordingly. This isn’t just limited to your family and friends but also to whole entire communities. Sometimes just telling someone words of encouragement like ‘you will be fine’ or ‘you can do this’ can make a world of a difference in an individual's life. Try it and see!

Do you have a mantra, ritual or daily practise?

I am a strong believer of the fact that the thoughts that an individual entertains during the first 60 seconds of awakening maps out their whole entire day. If on awakening you indulge in negative and destructive thoughts these can have a devastating effect on your behaviours and actions throughout the day. But, if you decide to put these unproductive thoughts aside and concentrate on positivity and thoughts of gratitude this can transform your day into an amazing memorable experience full of joy and happiness. I have been conducting the above technique for many years and it has never let me down. Another daily routine that helps me to recharge my mind and feel refreshed is that I empty my mind of any thoughts for 3 – 5 minutes on a daily basis (this takes practice, so please be patient). I sit up straight, close my eyes and don’t let any thoughts enter my mind. I slowly inhale my breath through my nostrils with my mouth closed, and then open my mouth and exhale through it. I also like to work out three to four times a week and conduct different forms of training including weight training, mixed martial arts and cardio with no mercy throughout the workouts. No pain, no gain! This combination of training allows me not only to work all my muscle groups but also supports keeping me healthy and encourages me to monitor my diet.

How do you keep your mental health in check?

A well-established billionaire businessman, when asked the question ‘What is the secret of success?’ told me the answer was one word, ‘Kaizen’. Kaizen is the process of constantly trying to improve your life in all areas. Following this process disallows me to indulge in any negativity and keeps my mental health in check. Following this process provides me with a constant purpose and meaning to my life. Kaizen also applies to my family and friends, I am constantly looking for ways to improve our relationships in any area possible. Kaizen has been the main source that has supported me towards my achievements and goals and always allows me to keep my mental health in check.

What am I grateful for in the light of the global crisis?

I am grateful for the fact that during this time I have been able to spend quality time with my family, and having had some amazing conversations regarding life in general with my family and friends. Also, I have been able to spend more time, educating, playing and having more movie nights with my family. We all need to make the most of this time with the ones we love and encourage them with hope, enlighten them with love and work together to develop our future goals and dreams.
